And to top it off, he was able to sneak back into his cell unnoticed! I'm sorry, but if you're going to build this huge mystery throughout the bulk of the film, then you have to deliver with the big shock at the end, and Law Abiding Citizen didn't do that for me. A guy is breaking out of prison, and he's killing people. Clyde Shelton (Gerard Butler) is a family man. I understood the message, but the ending didn't deliver at all for me. LAW ABIDING CITIZEN stars Gerard Butler (300) and Jamie Fox (The Kingdom) in an intense action / thriller that is sure to keep you guessing from the edge of your seat beginning to end. But I just felt so deflated, when the big mystery was finally revealed. The whole time, I kept wondering.how in the hell is Gerard Butler's character breaking out of jail and killing his targets? Is someone helping him? What means of transportation is he using? Could this all be diversion for a bigger and more evil plan? It was this big mystery, and it did keep me guessing until the very end. I never believed he would deliver the final crushing blow at the very end.Īnd the ending was a HUGE letdown for me. The story had it's moments, but I always thought Butler wouldn't survive in this one. It was careless, and because of the justice system, the killer was able to escape the sever punishment he deserved.
#JAMIE FOXX LAW ABIDING CITIZEN ENDING TRIAL#
Obviously, he was upset with how Foxx handled the murder trial of his wife and daughter. Butler's character wanted to teach Jamie Foxx a lesson. The acting was very solid, and the story was okay. As far as quality goes, I think this one is pretty decent. I don't have too big of a problem with this film. Just not a very good film, with a really shitty message. He hopes for justice, but a rising prosecutor named Nick Rice (Jamie Foxx) cuts a deal with one of the killers in exchange for testimony.
I think I gave it like a 2.5 out of 5 or something like that when I first saw it. Likewise, what is the film law abiding citizen about Clyde Shelton (Gerard Butler) is an honorable family man, until the day his wife and daughter are murdered in a home invasion. Ten years after his wife and daughter were slaughtered in front of him, Clyde Shelton (Gerard Butler) kidnaps one of the perpetrators, straps him down to a torture table, and saws off his limbs (and other things). The ending didn't ruin the film for me because it was never very good in my eyes to begin with. Remember Charles Bronson in Death Wish Law Abiding Citizen offers a taste of no-mercy vigilante family-man justice 3.0. The writing wasn't very good, and the editing IIRC was downright awful at times with all of the dizzying flash-cuts. This film though just never elevated itself past average at best to me. I mean, I have no problem with a revenge flick, I'll throw on the old Death Wish films every so often and those share the same blood-thirsty "eye for an eye" philosophy, but those films atleast had a charm to them that kept you entertained through-out.
It's basically a 90 minute commercial for capital punishment, and as someone opposed to the death penalty I found the whole thing in poor taste and just flat-out insulting at times. I saw it awhile back and was thoroughly unimpressed by the whole thing.
I really don't see what people see in this film.
